OpenVPN Howto connect to the VPNUK service
1. Prepare the necessary software
sudo apt-get install network-manager network-manager-openvpn network-manager-pptp
2. Get the certificates and the config file for your server from. The full list of config files is available for download from here: OpenVPN config files We have configured OpenVPN on our servers to accept connections through TCP/443 and also UDP/1194. The pre-configured config files we have on the website are setup initially for TCP/443.
3. Configure the connection
4. Click on "Edit connections"
5. Click on "VPN" tab
6. Click on "Add"
7. "Choose a VPN connection type" dialog appears. Select "OpenVPN".
8. Click on "Create"
9. In the "Connection name" field enter some name, e.g. VPNUK
10. In "Gateway" field enter the name of the vpn server, e.g. "shared10.vpnuk.net"
11. From the "Type" fall-down menu select "Password"
12. Enter username and password in the corresponding fields
13. In the "CA Certificate" field enter the name of the CA certificate file, e.g. "vpnuk-ca.crt"
14. Click on "Advanced"
3.12. Click on the "TLS Authentication" tab
15. Select the "Use additional TLS authentication" check-box
16. In the "Key File" field enter the name of the TLS key filename, e.g. "ta.key"
17. In the "Key Direction" field enter the direction of the key, e.g. 1
18. Click on "OK"
19. Click on "Apply"
20. Click on "Close"
