VPNUK - The Virtual Private Network Specialists
The following instructions go step–by–step through the creation process. These instructions work under all the client– side variations of Windows Vista, namely Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate.
The following instruction is for the VPNUK Connection Manager on Windows Vista.
1. Download the Connection Manager
Click onto the following link to download the latest version of our Connection Manager.

1: Extract or Drag the setup file to the desktop and double click it to open it.

2. Connecting to the Server
The recommended server setting for VPNUK servers is L2TP, select L2TP/IPSEC from the dropdown and click 'Connect'.

3. Select Options
In the property window enter your VPNUK username and password, tick the save checkbox and click onto the 'Properties' button.

4. Go to the Options tab
Next, enter your VPNUK server IP or DNS address and click the 'Options' tab.

5. Options - Disable Windows Domain.
Remove the tick from the 'Inlclude Windows logon domain' dialing options and click onto PPP settings.

6. PPP Settings
Place a tick in the 'Enable LCP extensions' box and 'Enable software compression' box and then click 'OK'.

7. Go to Security
Click onto the 'Security' tab

8. Security Settings
Ensure the 'Typical (recommended settings) option is selected with 'Require data encryption' then click onto 'Networking'

9. Setting up over L2TP
In 'Networking' tab click on the 'Type of VPN' dropdown menu and select 'L2TP IPsec
VPN' then click onto 'IPSec Settings'.

10. Set the Pre shared Key
In the 'IPsec Settings' dialog, click the radio button labeled 'Use pre shared key for authentication'. Then type 69000903 into the text box labeled 'Key'. Then click the 'OK' button.

11. Finished!
You're finished! Click the 'OK' button to save your settings.

9. Connect
Click Connect!

22. Thats It!
You have now successfully setup an L2TP VPN connection on the VPNUK server. To connect and disconnect in the future, double click onto the VPNUK Connection manager on the dektop.
