VPN on Smart TV & Gaming Consoles

Smart TVs and gaming consoles (PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch) don't support VPN apps directly. But you have two great options to protect them with VPNUK.

Option 1: Router VPN (Best Method)

Install VPNUK on your router and every device on your network — including smart TVs and consoles — is automatically protected. No apps needed on individual devices.

Option 2: SmartDNS

SmartDNS is included free with all VPNUK accounts. It works by rerouting DNS queries so that geo-restricted content (like UK streaming services) appears accessible from anywhere — without routing all your traffic through a VPN.

SmartDNS doesn't encrypt your traffic but is much simpler to set up on TVs and consoles — just change the DNS settings on the device itself.

Log in to the Members Area and find your SmartDNS server addresses
On your TV or console, go to Network Settings → DNS
Enter the VPNUK SmartDNS server addresses
Restart the device and access geo-restricted content
