Note: The IKEv2 setup on Windows 7 follows the same process as Windows 10 — install the VPNUK certificate via MMC, then add a VPN connection via the Control Panel. See the detailed guide with screenshots here.
Part 1 — Install the VPNUK Certificate
- Download the VPNUK root certificate (vpnuk.crt)
- Press Windows + R, type
mmcand press Enter - File → Add/Remove Snap-in → Certificates → Add → Computer account → Local Computer → OK
- Expand Trusted Root Certification Authorities → Certificates
- Right-click → All Tasks → Import → select
vpnuk.crt→ Finish
Part 2 — Add the VPN Connection
- Open Control Panel → Network and Internet → Network and Sharing Centre
- Click Set up a new connection or network → Connect to a workplace → Use my Internet connection (VPN)
- Enter your VPNUK server address. Name it VPNUK IKEv2. Click Create
- Go to Change adapter settings, right-click the connection → Properties → Security
- Set Type of VPN to IKEv2. Set authentication to EAP → Microsoft: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)
- Click OK. Right-click → Connect. Enter your VPN username and password
Connected! Your traffic is now encrypted through VPNUK.
